President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, an influential politician and former Governor of Kano State, on his 69th birthday, celebrated on October 21, 2025.
The Independent Mirror reports that, according to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, President Tinubu rejoiced with Kwankwaso’s family, friends, and political associates on the special occasion.
The President acknowledged Kwankwaso’s invaluable service to the nation through the various leadership positions he has held.
As a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives in the aborted Third Republic, two-term Governor of Kano State, Minister of Defence, and Senator representing Kano Central Senatorial District, Kwankwaso has made remarkable contributions to Nigeria’s national development.
President Tinubu noted that Senator Kwankwaso’s growing influence in the North, particularly in Kano State, reflects his people-oriented politics — reminiscent of the late Mallam Aminu Kano and late Abubakar Rimi.
“Senator Kwankwaso remains a friend and ally with whom I served in the National Assembly in 1992 and later as governors in 1999. We also worked together in founding the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Although he later left the APC to establish the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), it is noteworthy that he remains within the progressive fold,” President Tinubu stated.
The President wished Senator Kwankwaso good health and many more years of impactful service to the nation.
