President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the full composition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, with the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Malam Shehu Dikko, appointed Director of Sports Sector Mobilisation.
The Independent Mirror reports that the expanded campaign council, released by the Presidency on Saturday, comprises 223 members and provides a detailed structure for coordinating the ruling party’s campaign ahead of the 2027 elections.
President Tinubu will serve as Chairman of the council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, will serve as Vice-Chairmen I and II, respectively.
Former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, was appointed Director-General, while Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, will serve as Secretary. Hadiza Bala Usman was appointed Assistant Secretary.
The Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Malam Shehu Dikko, will serve as Director of Sports Sector Mobilisation. Philip Shaibu was appointed Deputy Director of Sports Sector Mobilisation I, while former Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo will serve as Deputy Director of Sports Sector Mobilisation II.
Dikko’s appointment as Director of Sports Sector Mobilisation highlights the importance attached to sports in the APC’s 2027 campaign strategy and reflects his continued commitment to sports development across the country.
The appointment also gives the North-West a prominent position within the campaign council, particularly in the area of sports development and mobilisation.
The expanded structure is expected to provide the political and organisational framework through which the APC will prosecute President Tinubu’s re-election campaign in 2027.
