Rangers’ NPFL Triumph: Leadership, Trust, and a Lesson By Jamilu Uba

by Independent Mirror

As the 2025/2026 NPFL season draws to a close with all its drama and surprises, I must first congratulate the General Manager of Rangers International FC, Enugu, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku, for the leadership, commitment, and vision that guided the club to the title.

I do not know Mr. Ezeaku personally, but I admire his leadership style. I watched how he engaged with Rangers supporters and how he built belief and trust with Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu.

Even when the coach was absent, he stood by him and defended him. That kind of backing is rare in Nigerian football, where pressure often breaks the bond between management and technical crew.

What caught my attention most about Barrister Ezeaku’s approach at Rangers was how it reminded me of the most successful era of Kano Pillars FC under former Chairman Alhaji Tukur Babangida.

He kept everyone in their lane and allowed them to perform their duties without interference.

During his time, Alhaji Tukur ran the club on professionalism. He engaged with the fans and even organized them to conduct elections to choose their representatives, without any intervention. He trusted the structure, and the structure delivered results.

That same principle is what I see in Barrister Amobi Ezeaku today: give people responsibility, protect them when it matters, and let professionalism lead. It is a model that works, and Rangers’ title this season is proof.

Congratulations to Rangers International, their management, players, and supporters. And to club administrators across the NPFL: leadership is not just about signing players. It is about trust, structure, and defending your people when the storm comes.
