Northwest Veterans All Stars qualify tournament kicks off in Kano

Zamfara Veterans All Stars football team will lock horns with Jigawa in the opening match of this year’s Northwest Veterans All Stars qualify at Sani Abacha Stadium Kofar Mata by 7am tomorrow morning Thursday.

The Independent Mirror reports that the Speaking shortly after the draws, the Zonal Coordinator of the zone, Alhaji Danburan Abubakar Nuhu described the turn out of participant teams as a huge success.

Danburan Abubakar Nuhu who was former Kano state commissioner of information, youth and sports charged the participant teams to be brother’s keeper as the competition is not a do or die affairs.

While expressing gratitude to the players and officials for their maximum support and cooperation, he assured that the local organizing committee will do everything possible to ensure the success of the championship.

Danburan Abubakar Nuhu said that with the calibre of seasonal administrators produced in the zone and the country at large such as National Sports Commission NSC led by Malam Shehu Dikko.

Others president of the Nigerian Football Federation NFF, Malam Ibrahim Musa Gusau and his Secretary General, Dr Muhammad Sunusi, the minister of state Housing Development, Alhaji Abdullahi Ata among others, the sky will be their limit.

He called on the sports stakeholders to work collectively aimed at improving various sporting activities in the zone and the country in general.

In his remarks, the President of Kano All Stars football team, Alhaji Muhammad Abba Galadima welcomed all the participant teams and urged them to avoid anything capable of denting the image of the championship.

Alhaji Muhammad Abba Galadima thanked the state government for providing facilities at the stadium towards the smooth and success of the competition.

Earlier in the draws conducted Kebbi versus Sokoto, Sokoto will ambush Kano and Kaduna will take on Zamfara for their second match.

Friday’s matches. Kano will confront Kebbi in the morning by 7am, Jigawa will battle Kaduna while a walker football match was also organised for the participants.
