Founder of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Dr Boniface Aniebonam, says the Appeal Court ruling sacking Gov. Abba Yusuf, its governor in Kano, is a rude shock to the party.
The Independent Mirror reported that Aniebonam, while reacting to the Appellate Court’s ruling invalidating Yusuf’s victory at the poll, this morning said that only the party could determine who its members are and not the court.
He, however, said that the NNPP still believed that justice would not only be done but seen at the Supreme Court judgment in due time.
This is just as Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State says he will approach the Supreme Court to challenge the Appeal Court’s judgment delivered, which sacked him as the Governor of the state.
Governor Yusuf, while reacting to the judgment, said he has instructed his lawyers to appeal the ruling to the Supreme Court.
Yusuf stated that the people of Kano were robbed of their mandate with the judgment served by the appellant court but expressed optimism that he would reclaim the ‘stolen’ mandate at the Apex Court.
While stressing that he will not be deterred from the good work he has started in the state, he urged Kano residents to go about their normal activities as security personnel are on the ground to protect them.
