The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Nigeria Kaizen Team paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Dr. Baffa Babba Danagundi, Director-General of the National Productivity Centre (NPC).

The Independent Mirror reports that according to a statement issued by Aminu Abba Kwaru, PPRO of the NPC, the visit took place at the Centre’s headquarters in Abuja and marked a significant step in the preparations for the upcoming Kaizen Seminar, scheduled for July 2025.

The JICA team, comprising esteemed members Masayasu Okuyama, Ito Sakura, and Elizabeth Onogwu, engaged in productive discussions with Dr. Danagundi and Engr. David Adejoh regarding the objectives and expected outcomes of the seminar.

The seminar aims to enhance the productivity and efficiency of Nigerian industries by applying Kaizen principles—an approach that emphasizes continuous improvement across various sectors.

“JICA is committed to supporting Nigeria’s socio-economic development,” said Masayasu Okuyama. “Through the Kaizen Seminar, we hope to work collaboratively with the National Productivity Centre to implement sustainable practices that can significantly enhance productivity across various sectors in Nigeria.”

The Kaizen Seminar is part of JICA’s broader initiative to utilize Japanese technology and methodologies to address development challenges in Nigeria.

By focusing on community development and improving access to essential services, JICA reaffirms its dedication to reducing poverty and fostering international cooperation.

Dr. Danagundi expressed his gratitude for JICA’s ongoing support and emphasized the importance of the upcoming seminar.

“The National Productivity Centre is eager to partner with JICA to implement Kaizen principles that will not only drive productivity but also contribute to the overall economic growth of Nigeria,” he stated.

As preparations continue for the Kaizen Seminar, both teams are optimistic about the potential impact of the initiatives discussed and look forward to close collaboration in the months leading up to the event.
