The Kano State Government has procured 484 mini ambulances for the 484 wards across the state as part of efforts to improve access to emergency healthcare services, particularly in rural and hard-to-reach communities.
The Independent Mirror reports that the initiative, announced by the Special Adviser to the Kano State Governor on Social Media, Ibrahim Adam on Thursday, is aimed at ensuring that residents in remote communities have timely access to medical care and emergency transportation.
The mini ambulances are designed to facilitate the swift transportation of sick persons, pregnant women, and other patients requiring urgent medical attention, especially those living far from major healthcare facilities.
Under the initiative, each ambulance will be supported by two trained drivers and two health workers to ensure prompt assistance and emergency support during the transportation of patients.
The programme forms part of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s broader health-sector reforms aimed at bringing healthcare services closer to the people, strengthening emergency response mechanisms, and improving access to timely medical intervention across the state.
According to the state government, the initiative will particularly benefit residents of rural communities and hard-to-reach villages by reducing delays in accessing healthcare facilities during emergencies.
From urban centres to remote communities, the Kano State Government says it remains committed to taking healthcare services closer to the people and improving the overall quality of healthcare delivery across the state.
