Customs Trains Journalists on Trade Modernisation Project

The Nigeria Customs Service has organised a training workshop for journalists on its Trade Modernisation Project.

The Independent Mirror reports that the workshop  was opened on Thursday, May 7, 2026, in Abuja.

Speaking at the event, Adewale Adeniyi said the project remains central to Customs reforms.

He explained that the initiative aims to improve efficiency, transparency, and accountability.

Furthermore, he noted that technology now plays a major role in global trade operations.

According to the Customs boss, the project will automate procedures and integrate digital systems.

He added that the reforms will help create a predictable and seamless trading environment.

In addition, he stressed that the Service remains committed to revenue generation and border security.

Adeniyi described the media as critical partners in national development.

He said journalists shape public understanding and influence perceptions about government reforms.

Therefore, he urged participants to engage actively throughout the workshop.

The National Public Relations Officer of Customs also addressed participants during the opening ceremony.

He said the workshop was designed to deepen media understanding of the Trade Modernisation Project.

Additionally, he noted that accurate reporting will strengthen public confidence in Customs reforms.

Customs officials commended Trade Modernisation Project Limited for supporting the initiative.

They praised the company’s technical expertise and continued collaboration with the Service.

The workshop will expose journalists to the project’s implementation framework and expected outcomes.
