The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed the appointments of experienced tactician Abdu Maikaba and football analyst Eboboritse Uwejamomere as head coaches of Nigeria’s U20 and U17 boys’ national teams respectively.
The Independent Mirror reports that the appointments were approved by the NFF Executive Committee following recommendations from the Federation’s Technical and Development Committee.
Maikaba will now take charge of the Nigeria U20 national football team, while Uwejamomere has been handed responsibility for the Nigeria U17 national football team.
Maikaba brings extensive experience to the role, having previously coached several top Nigerian clubs including Enyimba F.C., Wikki Tourists F.C., Kano Pillars F.C., and Plateau United F.C..
One of the highlights of his coaching career came in 2017 when he guided Akwa United F.C. to victory in the President Federation Cup.
He also has previous experience within Nigeria’s youth national teams, having worked with both the Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles setup in the past.
Meanwhile, Uwejamomere takes over the five-time world champion Golden Eaglets after years of experience as a technical analyst and youth development coach.
He has served as analyst with the Nigeria men’s national football team and the Nigeria women’s national football team, while also working within academy structures in England at Millwall F.C., Gillingham F.C., and Nottingham Forest F.C..
Currently serving as Head of Academy at Sporting Lagos F.C., Uwejamomere has also previously coached Abeokuta-based Stormers FC.
The appointments signal the NFF’s continued focus on strengthening youth football development and building competitive national teams for future international tournaments.
Both coaches are expected to begin preparations immediately as Nigeria looks ahead to upcoming youth competitions and qualification campaigns.
