The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, has issued a strong statement concerning the potential return of certain political figures to the party.
The Independent Mirror reports that, Abbas made the remarks during a press conference held at the APC state headquarters on Friday in Kano.
“APC, as a political institution under its Renewed Hope agenda, has embarked on a project to welcome decampees from all political parties,” he said.
“Recently, the party’s attention was drawn to speculations about the possible defection of the leader of the expelled faction of the NNPP, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to the APC.
“This would be a welcome development, especially considering that the APC may be his last political refuge, having severed ties with all other political platforms in the country.”
Abbas added that the party had directed its ward chapters to open registers for new members, regardless of their previous political or social standing, in accordance with the party’s constitution.
However, he emphasized that anyone seeking to rejoin the APC must first tender a public apology to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and other party leaders for past derogatory remarks made against them and the party.
The Kano APC reaffirmed its commitment to fairness, justice, and a transparent political process, urging prospective members to embrace the party’s values rather than treat it as a political safe haven.
