by Independent Mirror

The Dangote Foundation initiated the distribution of 120,000 bags of 10kg rice to the underprivileged in Kano State on Saturday.

The Independent Mirror reports that Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the foundation’s chairman, announced plans to distribute one million 10kg bags of rice nationwide, aiming to reach vulnerable individuals across the country’s 774 Local Government Areas.

This endeavor reflects compassion, solidarity, and corporate social responsibility, aiming to alleviate suffering in Nigeria.

Dangote emphasized Kano State’s larger share due to its substantial population and widespread poverty.

He expressed the foundation’s commitment to extending assistance to all 36 states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to ensure broad-reaching impact.

Additionally, alongside rice distribution, the foundation continues its daily feeding program for 10,000 individuals and provision of 10,000 meals during the Ramadan fast-breaking in Kano municipality.

Moreover, the distribution includes 20,000 family-sized loaves of bread in Kano and 125,000 loaves in Lagos, initiated during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The foundation is also actively engaged in nutrition initiatives, particularly in food fortification, investing in iodized salt and Vitamin A fortification of sugar.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf commended the distribution of 120,000 rice bags in Kano, highlighting its significance in providing sustenance during Ramadan.

He expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for supporting the state with grains, further aiding economic relief.

The governor assured transparent and equitable distribution by trusted members of the Hisbah committee, emphasizing the importance of ensuring broad access to the distributed goods for the community’s benefit.

Governor Yusuf appealed to other affluent Nigerians to follow Dangote’s example in supporting the less fortunate, recognizing the potential for such gestures to attract blessings to the community.
