JUST IN: APC Kano Backs Dismissal of Kano State Commissioner of Police

by Ahmad Hamisu Gwale

Twelve groups affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC) have backed the dismissal of the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.

The Independent Mirror reports that the groups, led by Alhaji Shehu Abdullahi, made this during a press conference in Kano on Saturday, expressing support for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s call for Bakori’s removal.

The groups include the Kano State APC Integrity Group, Kano State APC Amalgamation Forum, APC Intellectual Forum, Ganduje Support Group, APC Concern Forum, and APC Media Enlightenment Forum.

Others are the Abdullahi Abbas Political Vanguard, Tinubu/Shettima Political Movement, Kano State APC Merger, APC Kano Central Movement, Gawuna/Garo Political Awareness, and the APC Dan Sarki Organization.

It will be recalled that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had accused the Commissioner of Police of withdrawing officers from the Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day anniversary parade in Kano, describing the move as an act of insubordination.

The governor subsequently called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to remove Bakori, alleging that the commissioner undermined his authority as the state’s chief security officer — a development that has sparked protests and counter-protests across the state.

According to Abdullahi, the commissioner’s decision to withdraw police personnel from the parade could have caused a breakdown of law and order, potentially leading to the loss of lives and property in Kano State.

He added that all the decisions taken by the Kano State Governor are fully supported and urged the police to refrain from involving security matters in politics.
