Kano Botanical Garden Launches Tree Planting Campaign in Kano

The Kano Botanical Garden has flagged off the Tree Planting Campaign tagged “Unguwannin Kano Project” at Dorayi Kano to understand the importance of tree planting.

The Independent Mirror reports that the program took place on Sunday at the palace of the Dorayi District Head, Gwale Local Government, Kano State.

According to the Chairman of the garden, Professor Fatima Batul Mukhtar, the essence of the event was to understand the importance of plants in human life.

She added that the Gardens will continue to organizes same campaign in other areas of the state for the people to understand the benefit of planting trees.

“When they understand these things, they will grow up with history. Our hope is to maintain the significance of plants and, this way, our environment will be improved.

Let me tell you one thing. “Plants are basically life, because, without them, none of us would survive.

On his part, the District Head of Dorayi Alhaji Umar Shehu Sani appreciated the Kano Botanic Garden team for conducting the tree planting exercise which has a lot of future for history and also benefits the community.

He also urged the village heads to use what they benefit in a proper way.

Earlier in his remarks, Sheikh Mustapha said, the religion has forbidden illegal felling of trees and plants for cogent reasons.

Malam Mustapha added that plants and trees are also used for medicinal purposes and for improving human lives.

The Independent Mirror reports that the KBG will bring 100 plantations to Gwale Local Governments to achieve this aim.

It recalls that the Kano Botanic Garden was independent and established in 2008 for mainly the conversation of indigenous plant species and also to serve as a biodiversity conservation, research educational and recreational outfit in Kano States.
