The third edition of the Galadima Cup 2025, fill features 16 teams from across Nigeria, is organized to celebrate Dr. Ibrahim Galadima’s contributions to Nigerian football.
The Independent Mirror reports that the tournament, scheduled to kick off on January 4th, 2025, at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kofar Mata, Kano State,
The edition of the tournament will feature 16 teams from various states, including Danburan FC and Funtua FC from Katsina, one team from Zamfara, and 13 others from Kano State.
Engr. Suleiman Musa, Head of the Local Organizing Committee, expressed his excitement about the tournament’s success stories, highlighting the use of technology in Nigerian football.
“This is the third edition, and we are proud to say that we have done a lot in grassroots football. We want to see the teams grow bigger than this.” he said.
Musa also announced that VAR facilities would be deployed to ensure fair officiating, demonstrating the committee’s commitment to developing Nigerian football.
The event serves as a tribute to Dr. Ibrahim Galadima’s exceptional contributions to sports development in Kano and across the nation.
Prominent football personalities expected to attend include Alhaji Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC); Ibrahim Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF); and Sherif Rabiu Inuwa, Chairman of the Kano State Football Association (KSFA), among others.
Junior Pillars, last year’s edition winner, is set to defend their title in the 2025 Dr. Ibrahim Galadima Cup.
