The Executive Secretary of the Kano State Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda, has embarked on a comprehensive, unscheduled inspection tour of general hospitals across rural communities in Kano State as part of the Board’s commitment to ensuring the delivery of quality, accessible, and patient-centred healthcare services.
The Independent Mirror reports that Dr. Nagoda, on Wednesday, was accompanied by directors of the Board and other key management staff as he inspected healthcare facilities in line with ongoing efforts to strengthen community-based healthcare services.
The inspection exercise is aimed at assessing the operational readiness, efficiency, and compliance of health facilities with the directives and healthcare transformation agenda of the Kano State Government under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf.
During the visits, the inspection team thoroughly assessed key service delivery indicators, including the overall cleanliness and environmental sanitation of the hospitals, the availability and utilization of Free Maternity Care and Accident & Emergency (A&E) commodities, the availability of essential medicines, the functionality of operating theatres and Special Care Baby Units (SCBU), staff duty rosters, blood bank services, laboratory services, and other essential healthcare infrastructure required for effective patient care.
The facilities inspected so far include Kura General Hospital, Tudun Wada General Hospital, Dambatta General Hospital, Minjibir General Hospital, Gezawa General Hospital, Wudil General Hospital, Gaya Emirate General Hospital, Ajingi General Hospital, Kwankwaso General Hospital, Bichi General Hospital, Kiru General Hospital, Bebeji General Hospital, and Rano General Hospital.
Speaking during the inspection, Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda emphasized that the exercise was not intended to intimidate healthcare workers but rather to strengthen accountability, identify operational gaps, encourage excellence, and ensure that every resident of Kano State, regardless of location, receives quality healthcare services in a conducive environment.
He reiterated that the Kano State Hospitals Management Board remains resolute in sustaining regular monitoring and supportive supervision across all facilities to ensure strict adherence to professional standards and government policies, particularly in the implementation of the state’s Free Maternity Healthcare Programme and emergency medical services.
The Executive Secretary commended health workers and management teams at facilities where high standards of cleanliness, professionalism, and quality service delivery were observed.
He also issued immediate directives for the prompt correction of identified deficiencies, stressing that patient welfare remains the Board’s highest priority.
Dr. Nagoda further expressed profound appreciation to His Excellency, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his unwavering support in repositioning the healthcare sector through sustained investments in infrastructure, medical equipment, essential medicines, human resource development, and the provision of free maternal and emergency healthcare commodities.
He noted that these interventions have significantly strengthened healthcare service delivery across the state.
