The Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, has lauded the significance of the second edition of the National Para Games, terming it a crucial pathway for discovering emerging talents.
The Independent Mirror reported that the Minister is speaking today Thursday ahead of the opening ceremony scheduled for December 8-14 in Abuja.
The minister expressed confidence that the competition would reveal new gems and exceptional talents destined to represent the nation in World Para Games and future Para Sports events.
Senator Ennoh emphasized that the National Para Games transcends mere competition and winning medals, asserting, “It is a platform to showcase the incredible talent and determination of our athletes with disabilities.”
He further stressed the need for new talents to perpetuate the legacies of veteran superathletes like Yakubu Adesokan and Lucy Ejike, stating, “We are confident that this event will unearth new stars who will go on to achieve great things for the nation on the international stage.”
