Nigeria’s Super Falcons defeated hosts Morocco 3–2 in a thrilling final to win the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), claiming their 10th continental crown.

The Independent Mirror reports that the crucial encounter was played on Saturday at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, with the Nigerian side staging a stunning comeback to secure the title.

Morocco started brightly, taking the lead in the 12th minute through Ghizlane Chebbak. They doubled their advantage in the 24th minute when Sanaâ Mssoudy found the back of the net.

However, the Super Falcons responded with a determined second-half performance.

Esther Okoronkwo pulled one back for Nigeria from the penalty spot in the 64th minute, before Folashade Florence Ijamilusi equalized in the 71st minute.

Nigeria continued to press and were rewarded with a decisive third goal that sealed the victory and completed their comeback.

Statistically, Nigeria edged Morocco in most departments, registering 14 shots to Morocco’s 10, including five on target.

The Super Falcons also enjoyed 55% possession, completed 280 passes with a 69% accuracy rate, and earned five corners compared to Morocco’s three.

Despite the high intensity, the match remained fair, with no yellow or red cards issued. Nigeria committed seven fouls, while Morocco recorded 12.

The win marks Nigeria’s historic 10th WAFCON title, completing what has been dubbed “Mission X” for the reigning African champions.
