The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has officially endorsed Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as its consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The Independent Mirror reports that the affirmation ceremony, which took place on Thursday at the Sani Abacha Stadium, attracted a large crowd of party supporters and stakeholders.
The gathering was attended by members of the National Assembly, senior government officials, and other prominent APC leaders across the state.
Chairman of the APC Governorship Primary Election Committee, Muntari Shagari, while announcing the outcome of the exercise, declared that Governor Yusuf had met all constitutional requirements of the party and was consequently returned as the APC’s sole governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
“I hereby declare Abba Kabir Yusuf, having satisfied the constitutional requirements of the APC, affirmed and returned as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 election,” Shagari stated.
The motion for Yusuf’s adoption was moved by Senator Barau Jibrin and seconded by Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Yusuf expressed gratitude to party delegates and supporters for the confidence reposed in him, describing their support as a demonstration of loyalty and commitment to the party’s success ahead of the next general elections.
The governor also commended party members and stakeholders for ensuring a peaceful and successful exercise, while assuring residents of continued delivery of democratic dividends if given another mandate in 2027.
The event was attended by party members, including Deputy Governor Murtala Sule Garo, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, Abubakar Kabir Abubakar, member representing Bichi Federal Constituency, Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, and Kano State Speaker Jibrin Ismail Falgore, among others.
