SWAN Engages Kano Pillars, Barau FC, Stakeholders to Foster Mutual Understanding Ahead of NPFL

The Kano State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has organized a dialogue meeting with key stakeholders, Kano Pillars, and Barau FC ahead of the new NPFL season.

The Independent Mirror reports that the meeting, held on Thursday, was attended by the Chairman of the Kano State Football Association and member of the NFF Technical Committee, Dr. Sharif Rabiu Inuwa Ahlan.

Other attendees included Ibrahim Umar Fagge, Acting Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission; Ali Ibrahim Nayara, Chairman of the Kano Pillars Board; Ibrahim Shitu Chanji, Chairman of Barau FC; and other prominent football stakeholders in the state.

The meeting aimed to address critical issues affecting sports development in Kano State and to foster harmonious coexistence between Kano Pillars and Barau FC, the two clubs representing the state in the upcoming 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

The Communiqué meeting Highlights some of the Key Resolutions:

Fanbase and Awareness: Supporters Clubs of both Kano Pillars and Barau FC were urged to promote mutual understanding and respect to ensure a smooth and enjoyable matchday atmosphere.

Development: Stakeholders emphasized the need for collaboration to promote football inclusiveness and community development in line with FIFA, CAF, NFF, and FA rules and regulations.

Funding and Sponsorship: The importance of securing increased funding and sponsorship to support football growth in the state and beyond was highlighted.

Collaboration: The meeting commended the commitment of club management and fans’ leadership to uphold fairness, foster unity, and prove skeptics wrong.

Call for Action: Stakeholders stressed the need to work collectively to ensure a healthy and competitive rivalry between the two teams.

The meeting concluded with a pledge to reconvene in the future to review progress and address emerging issues. Stakeholders also expressed appreciation to the SWAN Kano State chapter for facilitating the dialogue and to all participants for their active engagement.
