Shammasu Muhd Bags SWAN MVP as Barau FC Beat Gombe United

Shammasu Muhd has been awarded the prestigious Man of the Match title by the Kano State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) following his outstanding performance, including a fantastic goal, as Barau FC defeated Gombe United 2-0.

The Independent Mirror reports that Barau FC overcame Gombe United on Matchday 10 of the 2024/2025 Nigerian National League (NNL) season, held on Saturday at the Dambatta Stadium in Kano State.

Sai’du Salisu opened the scoring for Barau FC with a penalty in the 40th minute, before George Owen assisted Shammasu Muhd, doubled the lead in the 59th minute, the match ended 2-0 in favor of the Maliya Boys.

Shammasu played a crucial role in the victory, scoring his first goal of the season, followed by a solid performance from George Owen, marking an impressive debut season for the team.

Shammasu Muhd, who scored the brilliant goals from about 30 meters for Barau FC against for me NFPL side Gombe United, intensified his contribution to the club’s in this season.

The Man of the Match award was presented to Shammasu Muhd by the President of Barau FC, Shawwal Barau I. Jibrin, alongside the former Kano State Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Kabiru Ado Lakwaya, Club Chairman Ambassador Ibrahim Shitu Chanji, and board member Engineer Bala Bawa among others.

Barau FC remained in the fifth place, with 12 points in the 9 matches in the NNL conference C, and will now focus on battle the derby match against Jigawa Golden Stars on Saturday, at the Kazaure Stadium.
