The New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State has denied rumors suggesting that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Independent Mirror reports that the state chairman of the NNPP, Hashimu Dungurawa, made the clarification during a press briefing on Friday in Kano.
Dungurawa stated that while Senator Kwankwaso has the autonomy to make his own political decisions, there are currently no plans for him to leave the NNPP.
“We have no business with the APC and have no intention of defecting,” Dungurawa declared, dismissing the rumors as baseless and mischievous.
He described the speculation as the product of desperation and political mischief, reaffirming the party’s commitment to its goals.
Dungurawa also expressed confidence in the NNPP-led administration in Kano, noting that it is making progress and working to restore law and order in the state.
Meanwhile, the APC chairman in Kano State was quoted in the media as saying that the party’s doors remain open to Kwankwaso and other Nigerians who wish to join.
