The Chairman of the Revival Committee of the Kano State Transport Company (Kano Line) has announced the refurbishment of nearly 50% of the company’s grounded vehicles.

The Independent Mirror reports that this was disclosed by the Chairman of the Committee, Alhaji Sa’idu Abdullahi Shu’aibu, during an interactive session with newsmen in his office on Friday.

Alhaji Sa’idu Abdullahi stated that the remaining 50% of the vehicles, which require extensive repairs, are currently awaiting the approval of His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, as the Committee reports directly to the Governor’s office.

He pointed out that the repair of the vehicles has led to a 50% increase in the company’s revenue generation.

The Acting Managing Director noted that since its inauguration on January 28, 2025, the Resuscitation Committee has consulted with fifteen Ministries, Departments, and Agencies relevant to its mandate.

Additionally, Alhaji Sa’idu Abdullahi Shu’aibu revealed that the Committee has invited all Kano Line agents across 20 states in the federation to revamp their services and boost revenue generation.

The Committee has also conducted a verification exercise of all Kano Line staff with the aim of identifying and removing ghost workers.

Regarding the company’s future plans, the Acting Managing Director explained that ultra-modern motor parks will be established at the four major entry and exit points into Kano City to improve commuter services.

He added that, in line with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s campaign promises, luxury buses and CNG-powered vehicles will be procured to enhance passenger transport within the Kano metropolitan area.

Alhaji Sa’idu Abdullahi Shu’aibu therefore urged all Kano Line staff to cooperate with the Revival Committee for improved service delivery, emphasizing that the Committee’s mission is not to witch-hunt staff but to reposition the company for better performance.
