Kwankwaso Joins ADC, Calls Supporters to Vote for Change

Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Monday formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), calling on his supporters across the country to register with the party and actively participate in the upcoming elections.

The Independent Mirror reports that Kwankwaso made the announcement at his Miller Road residence in Kano while addressing party leaders and supporters shortly after receiving his ADC membership card.

He described the moment as historic and thanked Almighty Allah for witnessing what he called a major political turning point.

“I am very happy today to have collected my membership card for the ADC. By taking this step, I urge all our supporters to go back and immediately register with the party,” he said.

The former presidential candidate also received top ADC officials and other political figures who attended the event in Kano, led by the party’s National Chairman, David Mark.

Kwankwaso emphasised the importance of full political participation, urging his supporters not only to join the ADC but also to register with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

“Registering with the party is not enough. You must also register with INEC to ensure you can vote for change in the next general elections,” he said.

He explained that his decision to join the ADC was a collective one, made after consultations with his political associates, supporters, and members of the Kwankwasiyya movement.

Political analysts say Kwankwaso’s defection to the ADC is likely to reshape the political landscape, especially in Kano State, where he enjoys strong grassroots support.

The move, seen as a major development in northern Nigerian politics, was marked by a ceremony at Gidan Kwankwasiyya, Miller Road, Bompai, Kano, where Kwankwaso received his membership card.

Prominent political figures at the event included former Senate President David Mark, former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, former Senator Dino Melaye, and former APC National Chairman John Odigie-Oyegun
