The Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal University of Science and Technology (FUST), Kabo, Kano State.
The Independent Mirror reports that the agreement is aimed at strengthening academic collaboration, research, innovation, and institutional development between the two universities.
On arrival at FUST Kabo, the MAAUN delegation, led by the President of the university, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, was warmly received by the Vice-Chancellor of FUST Kabo, Prof. Muhammad Sunusi Magaji, and members of the university’s management.
The MAAUN delegation included the Vice President, Administration, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar; Vice President, Campus Life, Dr. Hamza Garba; Director of Human Resources, Dr. Maimuna S. Bello; Dr. Abdulrazak Kayode of the Finance Department, and other senior officials.
The MoU was signed on Monday, July 20, 2026, at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room of FUST Kabo.
Prof. Mohammad Israr signed the agreement on behalf of MAAUN, while Prof. Muhammad Sunusi Magaji signed on behalf of FUST Kabo.
The partnership provides for the exchange of academic staff, researchers, undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as joint research projects and academic programmes.
It also covers collaboration in conferences, webinars, scientific publications, books, and other scholarly activities designed to enhance teaching, learning, and innovation.
Speaking after the signing, Prof. Israr described the agreement as another important step in MAAUN’s commitment to building strategic partnerships that promote academic excellence and research.
Prof. Magaji welcomed the collaboration and disclosed that MAAUN is the first institution to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with FUST Kabo following its recent upgrade to a university.
He also commended the Founder of MAAUN, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, for his outstanding contributions to the advancement of education.
The Vice-Chancellor further revealed that FUST Kabo recently secured approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to run 20 academic programmes, describing the achievement as a major milestone for the university.
The agreement is expected to create new opportunities for academic exchange, strengthen research collaboration, and further deepen the relationship between the two institutions.
