President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has concluded his working vacation and departed Paris, France, for Nigeria.
The Independent Mirror reports that this was contained in a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, on September 29, 2026.
According to the statement, President Tinubu’s aircraft is expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos later this evening.
The Nigerian leader chose to travel to Lagos first to honour the memory of the late Chief MKO Abiola, a prominent figure in Nigeria’s struggle for democracy.
On Independence Day, the President is expected to attend the premiere of a movie honouring Abiola, who won the June 1993 presidential election, at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos.
While in Lagos, President Tinubu will also hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates over several days as part of preparations for the 2027 elections.
President Tinubu departed Abuja on August 30 for the working vacation. He spent one week in London before proceeding to Paris.
While in Paris, he attended a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron. He also met with business leaders, including Mr Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group, whose media and digital interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group.
On Monday, the President also met with the Chairman of First HoldCo Plc, Femi Otedola.
Last week, President Tinubu witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ogun State Government and DP World for the development of a Gateway Deep Seaport in Ogun Waterside and the establishment of a Blue Marine Economic Zone in the area.
DP World, one of the world’s leading ports and logistics operators, plans to invest $7 billion in the seaport and the economic zone.
President Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja after concluding his political engagements in Lagos.
