Kano state government has launched the distribution of ATM cards in 19 local governments, for the support program of female students known as AGILE, in order to improve their daily studies in secondary schools.
The Independent Mirror reported that AGILE is a program of the World Bank with the cooperation of the federal government and the state, and the students will benefit from twenty thousand naira each term, in which they will have the opportunity to carry out their studies.
Gaya local government is one of the beneficiaries of this program among 19 local governments, where it has about twenty-five schools, and all of them have had the opportunity to benefit from this program.
Independent Mirror correspondent Saminu Zawa’i Mandawari, who was present at the event in Gaya, reported that distributing the cards to the students of four schools has started.
Also it is planned to distribute the cards to the students of nine schools on Monday, but he explained that this is related to the lack of understanding between the principals of the schools and the representatives of the AGILE program.
At first, the principals and representatives of the schools requested that they be given the cards of the students in order to distribute them, but the officials of the program refused to accept this and said that it was against the system given to them to carry out the distribution.
Similarly, the distribution was going successfully in the Rogo Local Governments as Ahmad Hamisu Gwale reported.
For now, the AGILE Program is continuing in the 19 different local areas in Kano State.
The local governments include Aginji, Bagwai, Dawakin Tofa, Shanono, Bunkure, Rogo.
Others are Gaya, Madobi, Makoda, Kibiya,Doguwa, Tsanyawa, Karaye, Warawa, Kiru, Bebeji, Kunchi and Rimin Gado.
