The General Manager of Hikima Radio, Kano, Abubakar Isa Dandago, has resigned from his position with immediate effect.
In a message personally sent to The Independent Mirror on Thursday, Dandago stated that his decision to step down was based on personal reasons.
“I wish to use this opportunity to inform my colleagues and the management of the station that I have resigned from my position as General Manager. May Allah continue to guide us in every decision we make,” he said.
According to him, although the decision was a painful one, it was taken at the right time.
Dandago expressed gratitude to his colleagues for their support throughout his tenure and appreciated the owners of Hikima Radio for the opportunity to serve the station in that capacity.
He also asked for forgiveness from anyone he may have offended, knowingly or unknowingly, during his time in office.
Abubakar Isa Dandago, popularly known by his stage name Yamalash, is a Kano-based football enthusiast turned Hausa commentator.
Born in 1981 in the historic Dandago community of Kano State, Yamalash developed a passion for football from a young age.
He is a practicing journalist who began his career at Freedom Radio, Kano, as one of its pioneer staff members. In 2012, he left the station to join Radio France Internationale (RFI), where he served as a Kano-based correspondent.
