Kano National Youth Council Elects Muhammad Abdullahi as New Chairman

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has elected Comrade Muhammad Abdullahi Sule as the new Kano State Chairman.

The Independent Mirror reports that the uncontested election was held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, following Kabir Usman Babawo’s withdrawal from the race.

The Youth Council is a non-governmental organization comprising a National Executive Committee of 23 members, led by a President, along with 37 State Chairmen and Local Government Coordinators.

Speaking at the election, the Kano State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, urged the newly elected leadership to restore strong youth leadership in Kano State, foster unity, and drive meaningful change in the lives of young people.

In his appreciation speech, Comrade Muhammad Abdullahi Sule expressed gratitude to the youths of Kano State for the opportunity, trust, and confidence proposed in him to lead the youth sector of the state.

He assured the youths of his commitment to empower them through leadership development programs, mentorship, and advocacy for greater representation in governance.

He also stated that his administration would create economic opportunities by collaborating with financial institutions, government agencies, and private sector players to provide funding, training, and job placements.

The election, which witnessed high participation including representatives from Kano state Sports Commission, was conducted in the presence of the Chairman of the Election Committee, Dr. Abdulhadi Zubair Chula, alongside members of the Local Government Executive Council.

Additionally, the Honorable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mustapha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, presented the Certificate of Return and oversaw the swearing-in of the newly elected NYCN executives for the Kano State Chapter following the election.
