Kano clinches first gold medal at National Sports Festival

Weighlilifters Lucky Orobasa wins Kano’s first goal medal at the ongoing National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The Independent Mirror reports that Lucky got lucky for team Kano to be the first athlete to win the first goal medal for Kano in 109 kg men’s snatch category, while Yahaya Andullahi won Silver and bronze in 109 kg men in clean and jerk categories respectively.

Kano Weightlifters put up impressive performances to win three medals that include one gold one Silver and one bronze medals for their state in the 109 kg categories.

They athletes promise to win more gold Medals at the next coming festival in Enugu to make Kano proud.

In women’d categories, Temidayo Jegede won 2 silvers and one bronze medal in 55 kg and Adamma Dorcas Anyimba won 2 bronze medals in 49 Kg at the NSF tagged Gateway Games.

On his part weitlifting team Kano coach, Ahmed Aliyu said the athletes deserve praise for their wonderful performance and also praise with grace and gratitude to Almighty Allah for giving them the opportunity to win the medals at 22nd edition of Apex Sports Festival.

“We are in Abeokuta to win all gold medals in weightlifting but because of injury and minor mistake we end off with one gold, three silvers and four bronze’s. .’He said.

In another development Kano athlete Musa Muhammad won Silver in 54 kg in Taekwondo, S. Baffa also won Silver in 63 kg and Ibrahim Mukhtar won a bronze medal in Teakwondo respectively.
