Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has revealed plans to establish a Security Trust Fund aimed at supporting security agencies in optimizing their functions within the state.
The Independent Mirror reported Speaking during the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration in Kano, Yusuf expressed his commitment to invite prominent individuals within the state to contribute to the establishment of the fund.
The governor emphasized that the Security Trust Fund would play a crucial role in maintaining the state’s safety and providing employment opportunities for the youth, diverting them from engaging in social vices.
“We are determined to ensure that Kano remains peaceful and safe, and my administration will leave no stone unturned to actualize this noble dream,” he stated.
Governor Yusuf pledged to prioritize the welfare of the families of fallen heroes, ensuring they benefit from palliatives distributed to the state’s residents.
“During the distribution of palliatives in the state, I have instructed the committee to extend the gesture to the families of the fallen heroes,” he affirmed.
He also reiterated his administration’s commitment to collaborating with security agencies in safeguarding the lives and property of the state’s residents, promising to provide necessary support for optimal performance.
“Anything the security agencies require to do their jobs, we are ready to come in and support them to perform optimally,” he added.
The Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration witnessed the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado-Bayero, and other dignitaries participating in the wreath-laying ceremony at the Fallen Heroes Centre on Zaria road in Kano.
The event globally recognizes and appreciates the sacrifices made by armed forces members to ensure peace and unity. In Nigeria, January 15 is annually dedicated to honoring fallen heroes and war veterans, seeking support for their families.
