Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has directed the immediate employment of over 4,000 teachers who recently completed the Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) programme.

The Independent Mirror reports that this was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Governor Yusuf made the announcement during the flag-off ceremony for the distribution of instructional materials to schools in Kano.

He stated that all 4,000 staff will undergo an aptitude test, and those who pass will be offered permanent employment in the state civil service.

Also the Governor Yusuf flagged off the distribution of instructional materials worth N2.8 billion to public schools across the state.

The materials, which include laboratory equipment, sportswear and sports kits, books, attendance registers, and laptop computers, are aimed at enhancing both academic and extracurricular activities in schools.

He emphasized that the gesture is part of a broader education reform agenda that also includes the solarization of 200 schools, the recruitment of 17,600 school security guards, and the absorption of BESDA staff into permanent service.

Governor Yusuf urged school administrators to ensure proper use and maintenance of the materials, noting that the government would monitor implementation to ensure the resources reach the intended beneficiaries.
