Bakin Zuwo Blazers Defeat NTM Thunder to Win DAM Foundation Basketball Competition

Bakin Zuwo Blazers defeated NTM Thunder 41–30 to emerge as champions of the 2025 DAM Foundation Summer Showtime Basketball Competition.

The Independent Mirror reports that the final match was held at the NTM Thunder Basketball Court in Na’ibawa, Kano State, where the Blazers dominated the first quarter with a 17–8 lead.

NTM Thunder fought back in the second quarter, edging out Bakin Zuwo 7–5, however, the remaining quarters were tightly contested, with the final scoreline reading 41–30 in favour of Bakin Zuwo Blazers (17–8, 5–7, 5–5, 14–10).

The two-day competition, which kicked off on August 1 and concluded on August 2, was held at the NTM Thunder Open Basketball Court, Yan Lemo, Kano as Bakin Zuwo Blazers were crowned champions and awarded a cash prize of ₦250,000.

While first runners-up, NTM Thunder, received ₦100,000, while Kabuga Warriors, who defeated Fiat Warriors 57–40 in the third-place match, claimed ₦50,000.

And best shooter Hassan Abdulkadir from NTM Thunder won the awards, best free throw player goes to Adamu Aliyu Kassim from Ahmadiyya, and best rebounder David Odoh of Bakin Zuwo Blazers emerges the awards.

Speaking at the event, the Director General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria and CEO of the DAM Foundation, Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, represented by Sa’idu Yakubu Bello, said the competition was designed to give young people the opportunity to showcase their talents.

Also speaking Chairman of Bakin Zuwo Blazers, Alhaji Bello Sabo Bakin Zuwo, expressed his joy over the team’s victory and also praised the organizers for a well-executed tournament.

A total of six teams participated in this year’s competition including the Champions Bakin Zuwo Blazers, NTM Thunder, Kabuga Warriors, Fiat Warriors, Ahmadiyya Platform and Tudun Wada Warriors.
