Russian strike kills 50 mourners in east Ukraine

A Russian strike this morning has left at least 50 mourners who gathered for a wake at a shop and cafe in an eastern Ukrainian village, dead.

Interior Minister Igor Klymenko say the victims inclusive of children, had gathered to remember a deceased villager in Groza in the Kharkiv region which has a population of about 330.

Footage published by the Ukrainian police showed a large area of rubble and bodies being taken away by emergency workers.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who was attending a European summit in Spain, has condemned the attack on social media.
