As the world celebrates World Teachers Day today, the federal government has pledged to address the challenges inhibiting effective teaching and learning in Nigeria.
Vice President Kashim Shettima who made the pledge today, during the 2023 World Teachers’ Day celebration at Eagle Square, Abuja noted the challenges to include scarce resources; overcrowded classrooms and limited opportunities for professional development.
Shettima, who read President Bola Tinubu’s speech, emphasized that Nigeria’s future can only be safeguarded through massive investments in education, empowerment of teachers and the provision tools to enable Nigerian children attain their dream destination.
In his opening remark, the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, said the day offers opportunity for society to celebrate its true heroes, describing teachers as the champions of Nigeria’s transformation.
