The National Productivity Centre has commenced a 3-day training programme on “International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) for its Accounts and Audit Staff” at the Events & Conference Centre, One Man Village, Nassarawa State.
The Independent mirror reports that the programme, which was declared open by the Director General, Dr. Baffa Babba Dan’Agundi was designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of the participants and also ensure that they are well-equipped to meet the demands of their roles.
In his address, the Director General expressed satisfaction with the dedication shown by the staff and highlighted the importance of continuous professional development.
“Our staff is the backbone of the Centre. By organizing programmes like this, we aim to uplift your knowledge and skills to propel the Centre forward and avoid any suspicious financial activities, ” he said.
According to Dan’Agundi, “the Centre remains committed to fostering an environment of continuous learning and professional growth, with plans to organize similar workshops in the future”.
In her opening remarks, Mrs. Osipitan O.A, the Director of the Department of Finance and Accounts, thanked the Director General for his unwavering support and emphasized the significance of applying the knowledge gained during the workshop.
“I urge all participants to utilize the skills and insights that you will acquire to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of the National Productivity Centre,” she remarked.
Addressing the participants, the Deputy Director, Consolidated Accounts Department, Office of the Accountant General, Shuaibu Sikiru Badmus, who represented the Accountant General of the Federation, expressed his appreciation to the Director General for providing such kind of training to the staff, adding that the workshop would boost the staff knowledge, especially in modern financial regulations.
In the course of the training, participants will be engaged in various technical sessions covering critical topics such as Advanced Financial Reporting, the latest Accounting Regulations, Effective Audit Practices, and Budget Management.
