Matasa football club were crowned Champions of the just concluded Maraya na Kwarai Super 8 competition held in kano.
The Independent Mirror reports that the match was played between Matasa Football Club and Net Breakers football club Na’ibawa at the Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education Football Field.
The competition was sponsored by the management of Maraya Na Kwarai construction company in its aim to contribute to the development of sports in kano state and Nigeria at large.
Matasa football club energetic defender Mu’azzam Adam break the deadlock at the 17th minutes of play from a corner kick, assisted by Yusuf Abubakar. The scoreline ended a goal to nil in favor of Matasa Football Club.
Technical Adviser of the club in person of Ibrahim A. Musa expressed his joy for guiding the club to it first major trophy since its inception December last year.
He equally used the opportunity in thanking the sponsors of the tournament and charged them to keep the tempo in organizing such event in the near future.
Dignitaries that graced the closing ceremony of the tournament include the kano state football Association Chairman Dr. Sharif Rabiu Inuwa Ahlan, who also represent the Nigerian Football Federation Chairman Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, Ag. Chairman of kano state sports commission Alhaji Bala Malan, Interim kano pillars head Coach Ahmad Garba Yaro Yaro, former kano pillars Chairman Alhaji Surajo Jambull among others.
