Barau Football Club, one of the Northern Nigeria clubs competing in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for just one year, has continued its impressive run with a five-match unbeaten streak.
The Independent Mirror reports that the Kano-based side extended their fine form with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Ikorodu City on NPFL Matchday 24. Under the leadership of General Manager Dominic Iorfa, the team has consistently delivered strong performances on the pitch.
Since his appointment as General Manager in September 2025, Barau FC has shown clear commitment to building a high-performance football institution.
Iorfa brings a wealth of experience from decades within the Nigerian football scene, with a proven track record in strategic leadership, talent development, and elite performance management—qualities that continue to drive the club’s sporting ambitions.
Monday’s victory against Ikorodu City proved crucial, as the three points lifted Barau FC to 13th position on the NPFL table with 30 points from 24 matches, significantly easing relegation concerns.
Before the conclusion of the first round of the NPFL 2025/2026 season, Barau FC struggled to move clear of the relegation zone and finished the stanza in a difficult position.
However, the start of the second stanza marked a major turning point for the club, as the squad was strengthened with the signing of new players under Iorfa’s guidance.
Since then, Barau FC has remained unbeaten in the second stanza of the league, recording two wins and three draws both at home and away, and continuing to stand out among their competitors.
One of Iorfa’s notable achievements has been the prompt payment of players’ match bonuses.
All players have received their entitlements in full, with no outstanding payments, a factor that has significantly boosted morale within the squad.
The club’s recent success has also been attributed to the unwavering support and commitment of the Grand Patron of Barau FC, Senator Dr. Barau I. Jibrin, as well as the Club President, Shawall Barau Jibrin, for their continuous support for youth development and the wider community.
Barau FC will now shift focus to NPFL Matchday 25, where they will travel to face Rivers United next week, before returning to Kano to host Kun Khalifat FC on Matchday 26 at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata.
