Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, CON, attended a send-off party in honour of the outgoing Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, Prof. Sagir Adamu Abbas, and to welcome the new and 12th Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Musa.
The Independent Mirror reports that the event, held this week at the Amani Event Centre in Kano, attracted dignitaries from within and outside the state.
The ceremony, tagged “Grand Academic Salute: Celebrating Academic Excellence, Transformative Leadership and Legacies of Prof. Sagir Adamu Abbas, FMAN, FSAN, and Ushering in the 12th Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Musa”, was organized by Prof. Hafsat Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Ganduje emphasized the importance of continuity and consolidation in governance to drive massive development.
He warned that cancelling or abandoning existing projects and programmes weakens governance and slows progress.
On the occasion, Dr. Ganduje and his wife, Prof. Hafsat Ganduje, were presented with special honours in recognition of their contributions to education and support for Bayero University, Kano.
Also the state minister of Education Suwaiba Ahmad among the dignitaries attended the event.
