Staff of the Kano State Investment and Properties (KSIP) have expressed concern over the non-implementation of the new N70,000 national minimum wage in their salaries.

The Independent Mirror reports that It will be recalled that the Kano State Executive Council, led by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, approved the implementation of the new wage structure, effective November 2024.

However, KSIP staff are yet to benefit from the increase, sparking anxiety amid rising inflation across the country.

Findings by the Independent Mirror, online newspaper based in Kano indicate that employees of the state-owned company remain uncertain about whether they will receive the revised wage—just three months ahead of the scheduled implementation date.

It is worth noting that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had earlier received a report from the State Minimum Wage Committee, which was tasked with reviewing and recommending adjustments to the wage structure.

While the committee’s recommendations were expected to be made public, there has been no update on the implementation process.

This situation is not unprecedented, as workers at the Kano State Water Board faced similar delays in wage adjustments a few months ago.
