The 16th Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammad Sanusi II on Friday turbaned his son, Aminu Sunusi Lamido Sunusi, as Chiroman Kano in a grand ceremony held at the Emir’s Palace.
The Independent mirror reports that the event was attended by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, his deputy, Aminu Abdusalam Gwarzo and other prominent personalities across the country.
In his address during the ceremony, Emir Sanusi said the title was conferred on Aminu based on merit and his notable contributions to community development.
“We turbaned him because of his dedication to serving the people and his commitment to the principles of leadership and development. This is a position of responsibility, and we believe he is well-equipped to uphold the values of our emirate,” the Emir stated.
Aminu Sunusi Lamido Sunusi, the new Chiroma, is a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) serving in the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
His professional career as a Police and community engagement have earned him recognition as a leader with a strong sense of duty and integrity.
The event was marked with colourful traditional displays, including horse-riding, parades, drumming, and dance performances that showcased Kano’s rich cultural heritage.
