Kano State Sports Writers Association Chapter SWAN, has announced the finalists for the awards ceremony of 2023 accomplishments and contributions in the sports industry of some individuals, teams and others .
The Independent Mirror reported that the event took place on Monday, 26th February 2024 at the Nigerian Union Of Journalists NUJ Secretariat Press Centre, Marhaba Cinema in Kano.
The Awards recognised the different parts of sport’s development, especially for those contributing, support and encouragement to promoting the field of sports journalism.
SWAN Kano chapter every year organised a lunch calendar and awards ceremony for the respective contributions to the sports industry in Kano State.
Ismael Abba Tangalash was crowned as the TV Best Sports Presenter for 2023, while Ahmad AA Chiko served as Radio Best Sports Presenter of the year.
The Finalists were selected from different categories, including Kano State Football Association Chairman, and NFF member, Dr Sharif Rabiu Inuwa Ahlan as the best Administrator of 2023.
While a former Kano SWAN Chairman Rilwan Idris Malikawa Garu, served as the best mentor of the year, also Kano Pillars Captain Rabi’u Ali NPFL emerged as the best Legend player of the year.
Others, including Moses Ted Andishu as SWAN Patron of the year, Tudun Wada United FC NLO was the best team of the year, and Laura Wilson,served as the Sharpe Philanthropy of the Year 2023.
The dignitaries who attended the event, including the Commissioner for Rural Development and supervisor of the Kano State Sports and Youth commissioner Safiyanu Hamza Kachako.
Also, a former member of the House of Representatives Kano Municipal KMC, Abubakar Nuhu Dan Duran, and the Chairman of the Kano State Union Of, Journalist Abbas Ibrahim, attended the event.
Also, the Chairman of Nigeria Nationwide League NLO Hassan Garo, and several heads of other media houses in Kano are among those who participated in the event.
In his remarks, the Kano State SWAN Sports Writers Association SWAN, Zahradden Saleh thanked all the participants for attending the occasion.
He also urged his members to be calm, and also to be served as good ambassadors everywhere they involved themselves.
