Senate considers ban on CBN Governor, Deputies from politics; swears in Yohanna as Abbo’s replacement

Back in the Senate, it has sworn in Amos Yohanna as the new Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District.

Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau, who presided over plenary today, swore in Yohanna just a week after the Court of Appeal in Abuja sacked the former lawmaker representing the district, Elisha Abbo.

While Abbo is of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Yohanna is of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

You would recall that the Appeal Court which delivered judgment on October 16th nullified Abbo’s victory at the 25 February poll and ordered INEC to issue a Certificate of Return to Yohanna as the duly elected lawmaker representing the area in the National Assembly.
