Barau Football Club has continued its push for promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) next season, following a goalless draw with Wikki Tourists.
The Independent Mirror reports that the matchday 2 fixture of the NNL Super Eight playoffs, between Barau FC and Wikki Tourists was held on Monday, at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State, with both teams still in contention for NPFL promotion.
The first and second half was tightly contested, with Barau FC starting on the front foot, showing determination and aggression in the attack.
Both sides maintained consistent pressure throughout the match, but the tough encounter ended goalless as neither team managed to find the back of the net.
Barau FC goalkeeper, Salim Ali, was outstanding once again, making several impressive saves and maintaining a clean sheet for the second consecutive game.
Alo Salim Ali, was named Man of the Match for his exceptional performance against Wikki Tourists.
The result keeps Barau FC’s promotion hopes alive, as the club currently sits second in the group with two points from two matches.
Barau FC will now shift focus to a must-win final group match against Doma United, scheduled for Thursday, 10th July 2025, at the Jay Jay Okocha Stadium in Asaba, Delta State.
