A total of 170 Kano state contingents have arrived at Asaba the capital city of Delta State, safely via Max Air charter flight, to attend the 9th edition of National Youth Games 2025 scheduled to hold in Asaba, From August 26 to September 6.
The Independent Mirror reports that the Kano state commissioner of Youth and Sports development Honourable Mustapha Rabi’u Musa Kwankwanso is the leader of the delegation from Malam Aminu Kano international Airport to Asaba international Airport Delta State.
The Ag. Chairman Kano state sports commission, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Fagge, said the team comprises Male and Female athletes across 14 sports events.
With a contingent strength of approximately 170 members, including athletes, coaches, team officials, drivers, Media and powerful government representatives, Kano is aiming for full participation in all events to ensure vigorous representation at this year 2025 National Youth Games.
Kano state will be participating in 14 different sports events including Football, Handball, Basketball, Rugby, Judo, Taekwondo, badminton, boxing, kick-boxing, Fives, Golf, Gymnastics, Wushu-Kufu and traditional Kokawo.
Over 6000 athletes from 36 states and FCT will compete at 37 different sports events. The screening of athletes has been conducted today Thurdays 28/08/2025.
The opening ceremony of the games is scheduled to take place on Friday August 29, 2025 at the main Bowl of Stephen keshi Stadium.
