The Kano State contingent has arrived in Kaduna for the Northwest Zonal Eliminations ahead of the 2025 National Youth Games, scheduled to take place in Asaba, Delta State.
The Independent Mirror reports that this year’s National Youth Games will run from August 26 to September 6, 2025.
According to reports, a total of 150 members make up the Kano contingent, set to compete in the 9th edition of the Northwest Zonal Eliminations from August 15 to 19.
Speaking ahead of the games, the Acting Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Fagge, confirmed that the team consists of both male and female athletes across seven sports: football, handball, hockey, volleyball, basketball, rugby, and cricket.
The 150-member delegation includes athletes, coaches, team officials, drivers, media representatives, secretaries, and other support staff.
Kano State is aiming for full qualification in all events to ensure a strong representation at the youth edition of the National Sports Festival.
The Northwest Zone, which comprises Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Jigawa, Sokoto, and Zamfara, will compete in the team events at Murtala Muhammad Square and Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.
