National Milo basketball tourney in Lagos: Despite defeat Team Kano is still hopeful

Team Kano basketball team has expressed optimistic of making an impact in the on going National Milo basketball championship for secondary schools.

The Independent Mirror reports that the  championship which was organized by Nigerian School Sports Federation NSSF and sponsors by Nestle Milo is currently taking place at the indoor sports hall of the national stadium Surulere, Lagos attracted nine states in attendance.

Speaking with newsmen in Lagos, the director of sports in Kano state ministry of education and the leader of the contingent, Malam Ibrahim Bello said the Technica crew have mapped out strategy with a view to ensure the state excel in the championship.

Malam Ibrahim Bello charged the team to redouble efforts in the subsequent matches so as to continue projecting the image of the state at the competition.

The director however commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the state ministry for the support financially and morally towards making the team comfortable in Lagos.

Earlier, in the first match Kano team lost 22 to 79 to the host state Lagos, while Niger state defeated Bayelsa 51-42 points in the boys category.

In the female category, Lagos beat Delta 39-29 and Oyo state walked over Federal Capital Territory FCT Abuja 20 points.

Meanwhile, Borno, Kaduna and FCT boys teams were disqualified from the tournament due to over age

The matches continue today.
