The Kano State Government has warned members of the public against falling victim to fraudsters allegedly selling fake appointment letters and promising employment into the State Civil Service.
The Independent Mirror reports that the warning was issued by the Office of the Head of Civil Service in a public awareness statement signed by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Rukayya Uba Sulaiman, on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
The Office of the Head of Service said it had become concerned about the activities of individuals and groups allegedly attempting to defraud unsuspecting members of the public under the guise of securing government appointments.
It categorically stated that appointment letters issued by the Kano State Government are not for sale, stressing that any demand for money in exchange for an appointment letter or a promise of employment into the State Civil Service is not authorised by the government.
The government therefore advised members of the public to exercise utmost caution and avoid giving money, personal documents or other valuables to individuals claiming to have access to genuine government appointments.
The Office of the Head of Service also urged the public to rely strictly on official government channels and verified announcements for information concerning recruitment and appointments into the Kano State Civil Service.
It further called on anyone who encounters suspected recruitment fraud or individuals involved in the sale of fake appointment letters to report such cases promptly to the appropriate authorities for necessary action.
The Kano State Government reiterated its call on members of the public to remain vigilant and verify all employment-related information through official channels to protect themselves from fraudsters.
