Deputy Senate President Hails Barau FC Victory Over Wikki Tourists

Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has commended Barau Football Club for their impressive victory over Wikki Tourists in the Nigerian National League (NNL) 2024/2025 season 

The Independent Mirror reports that the Matchday 11 between Barau FC and Wikki Tourists was held on Sunday at the Dambatta Stadium and ended 2-1 in favour of Barau FC.

In a statement on Sunday, Senator Barau said “Today, my football team, Barau FC, defeated Wikki Tourists of Bauchi in the Nigerian National League (NNL) 2024/2025 Matchday 11.

“The match held at the Dambatta Stadium in Kano State saw my football club triumph 2-1,

“I congratulate the management, players, and supporters of Barau FC for making us proud, Keep the flag flying,” Barau said.

Barau Jibrin added that “We will continue to devise means to support and empower our youth so they can contribute meaningfully to the development of our society.”

The match saw Barau FC took the lead in the 31st minute through Adamu Ibrahim, who scored his second goal of the season with an assist from Sugau Aliyu.

Wikki Tourists equalized in the 37th minute, from Wonderson, but Barau FC regained the lead early in the second half as Sai’du Salisu converted a penalty in the 47th minute, marking his third goal of the season.

The match ended 2-1 as Barau FC pickup three crucial points, keeping their promotion hopes to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) alive.

With the victory Barau FC now sit second in the NNL Southern Conference C with 18 points from 11 matches.

Also Barau FC will face Mighty Jets of Jos on Matchday 12 at the New Jos Stadium on Saturday, a single point from the match will be enough to secure their place in the NNL Super Eight.
