A Square Academy, a digital skills training initiative founded by Kano-born creative professional Aminu Baba, popularly known as A Square, has graduated more than 60 young people as part of efforts to equip youths with practical digital and entrepreneurial skills.
The Independent Mirror reports that the academy, established to provide accessible and practical training in digital marketing, content creation, social media management and other digital business skills.
At least 60 participants recently completed various training programmes under the academy in just one year, and were presented with certificates at a graduation ceremony attended by participants, friends, families and other stakeholders.
The graduation marked another milestone in the academy’s efforts to promote digital literacy and encourage young people to acquire skills that can be applied in today’s technology-driven economy.
A Square Academy was established with the understanding that the rapid growth of digital platforms has created new opportunities for entrepreneurs, business owners, content creators and young professionals.
Through its training programmes, the academy provides participants with practical knowledge on how to develop and manage digital content, promote businesses online, engage audiences through social media and make effective use of available digital tools.
Unlike training programmes that focus mainly on theoretical knowledge, A Square Academy places emphasis on hands-on learning, enabling participants to practise the skills they acquire and apply them to real-life business, career and personal projects.
The approach is designed to help participants understand not only the technical aspects of digital platforms but also how those platforms can be used to communicate ideas, reach potential customers, build brands and create sustainable opportunities.
Speaking about the initiative, its founder, Aminu Baba, popularly known as A Square, has expressed a commitment to helping young people develop practical skills that can improve their participation in the digital economy.
The academy’s programmes also provide an avenue for aspiring entrepreneurs to learn how digital tools can be integrated into their existing businesses, particularly in areas such as marketing, customer engagement, branding and online visibility.
For many young entrepreneurs, the increasing use of social media and digital platforms has changed the way businesses interact with customers.
Businesses are now able to promote products and services beyond their immediate communities and communicate directly with potential customers through platforms.
A Square Academy seeks to position its trainees to take advantage of these opportunities by giving them practical knowledge that can be applied beyond the classroom.
The graduation of more than 60 participants in just one year, therefore represents not only the completion of a training programme but also the beginning of a new phase for the beneficiaries, who are expected to put their newly acquired skills into practice in their businesses, careers and personal projects.
The initiative also highlights the growing importance of digital skills among young people in Kano and beyond, as technology continues to influence business, communication, employment and entrepreneurship.
With the digital economy continuing to expand, initiatives such as A Square Academy are creating platforms where young people can acquire relevant skills, gain practical experience and explore new ways of building sustainable careers and businesses.
