The Arewa Telecom Operators, Agents and SIM Card Dealers Association has organized a two-day sensitization and capacity-building programme for SIM card registration agents and data product partners, aimed at strengthening professionalism, promoting regulatory compliance, and improving service delivery in the telecommunications sector.
The Independent Mirror reports that the programme brought together SIM card registration agents, dealers, data product partners, and other stakeholders to deliberate on operational challenges, best practices, and the need for improved service delivery across the telecommunications value chain.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the association, Hassan Yakubu, said the programme was organized to strengthen the capacity of members and partners while promoting responsible practices in SIM card registration and data product distribution.
“We are here for sensitization and capacity building. It’s a two-day thing. Last year we did the same thing for two days and this year we are here too”. Said Hassan Yakubu
He added that the essence of the gathering is to enlighten themselves, is to learn what they don’t know or to drop what they used to do but now is not allowed or is outdated or to even acquire new knowledge on how to
better their business.
He explained that continuous engagement and capacity building would help address some of the challenges faced by agents and dealers in the discharge of their duties.
The Chairman further called for stronger collaboration among the association, telecommunications operators, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders to improve the working environment for agents and enhance service delivery.
One of the participants, who is from Adamawa, described the training as an opportunity to gain additional knowledge about SIM card registration procedures and customer relations.
The participant said the lessons learned would help improve daily operations and encourage greater compliance with established guidelines.
The two-day programme featured sensitization and capacity-building sessions designed to improve participants’ understanding of their responsibilities and encourage the adoption of best practices in their respective areas of operation.
The initiative also underscored the importance of cooperation among stakeholders in addressing industry concerns and supporting the sustainable development of telecommunications services.
At the end of the programme, participants were encouraged to put the knowledge acquired into practice and contribute to improving service delivery within the industry.
The association reaffirmed the importance of continuous engagement and capacity building as part of efforts to strengthen its membership and promote responsible operations among SIM card registration agents and data product partners
